Effective 1 March 2014 you should buy liability and/or property damage coverage when renting vehicles outside North America. You should buy these coverages offered by the rental agency when renting outside the United States or Canada. The credit card you use to rent the vehicle may offer coverage. You should determine this before traveling as this may lower your expenses.
